NCDF Members Receive Band Management Training
The National Carnival Development Foundation (NCDF) has successfully hosted the country’s first Band Management Workshop at the Mas Transformation Secretariat training room in St. Augustine. On Saturday April 12, during the hours of 8am – 4pm, Mas Practitioners received tailor-made training geared towards sharpening their capacity to conceptualise and operate Mas Bands as successful businesses.
Workshop Funding was initially allocated for 40 participants but interest from over 100 persons resulted in the workshop being highly over-subscribed. The Band Management Seminar was attended by a cross section of Mas Practitioners including Mini, Small, and Medium bands, as well as J’ouvert bands, Kiddie bands and Steel bands.
Band Management sessions focused on both quantitative and qualitative aspects of operating bands as successful businesses and all training material was anchored in Project Management principles. Nearly 80% of participants gave the workshop an overall rating of ‘Excellent’ as they were pleased with both the content covered and interactive presentation style of the facilitators.
The session concluded with beneficiaries receiving certificates of participation, and CDs containing pertinent Mas Band Management Templates that guide the process of successfully planning and operating a Band. NCDF is pleased to deliver this exciting initiative for the benefit of its members, and by popular demand we are currently investigating options for repeating this initiative.
